Our mission is to provide the best care possible to our patients, to alleviate pain and suffering, to offer the highest level of preventative health care available, the best and most progressive medicine and surgery to our patients, exceptional services to the owners of our patients, to educate owners so they can make the best and most informed decisions for their pets, and to promote the human/animal bond.
The Doctors
Dr. Mike Sheffield received his DVM degree from Texas A & M University in 1985. He did his undergraduate work at Texas A & I (now Texas A & M, Kingsville). Dr. Sheffield began his professional career in the Rio Grande Valley. He then moved to the Dallas area and spent two years there in a mixed animal practice. In 1990 Dr. Sheffield moved to Wimberley and started Wimberley Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Sheffield is married and has a son. He has three horses, two dogs, three cats and four fish.

Dr. Susan Ferguson grew up in south Austin. She earned both her bachelor's degree and DVM from Texas A&M University, graduating from veterinary school in 2000. After graduation she worked for 2 years at a mixed animal clinic in Conroe TX before moving to the Dallas area. There, Dr. Ferguson continued to broaden her experiences practicing in a small animal clinic as well as an after-hours emergency clinic, and even a feline only practice! In June 2013 she moved back home to be closer to family. Dr. Ferguson, her two children, and their dog and cat now reside in Kyle. Dr. Ferguson feels strongly about offering the highest quality medicine available and educating pet owner's to help them make the best decision for their pet and their family.

Dr. Danae de Vries grew up up in a suburb of Chicago. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Augustana College. She followed that up with her veterinary medicine degree from Purdue University in 2016. While at Purdue she received the American Association of Feline Practitioner's Outstanding Senior Student Award. Dr. de Vries enjoys working with both large and small animals.

Dr. Jacqueline Babin grew up in central Houston. She received two bachelor’s degrees, one in Animal Science, the other in Microbiology, from Texas A&M University and immediately earned her DVM, also from Texas A&M. She looks forward to completing further training in acupuncture and chiropractic to better serve her patients, including companion animals, large animals, and exotics. Dr. Babin enjoys horseback riding and long-distance running in her free time, and she is excited to work with you to provide the best care for your animals.
Our Staff
Bryan Fowler - grew up in Dripping Springs. He has an extensive background in animal emergency care. He joined Wimberley Veterinary Clinic in 2007.
Jacqueline (Jax) Nuckolls - is our practice manager. Jax has been keeping Wimberley Veterinary Clinic running smoothly since 2009.
Kerry Morony - is the newest member of our front desk staff.
Amanda Filipponi - worked with the Hill Country SPCA before joining our staff in 2010. As a technician, Amanda particularly enjoys caring for our reptile patients.
Mebdh Abell -pronounced "Mave" is a Texas native with over a decade of experience as a veterinary technician. Mebdh is also a professional and competitive jouster. As a jouster, she appreciates horses and has a particular interest in our equine patients.
Alec Flanagan - grew up in Wimberley and is a graduate of Wimberley High School. He is the "hometown guy" on staff and works as a technician.
Kaylee Robertson - Kaylee says working in veterinary medicine is not a job, it is a passion and a lifestyle.
Angie Dillon - is one of our receptionists. She joined our staff in 2016.
Tracy Sheffield - is our part-time hospital administrator. In addition to her administrative duties she is a licensed veterinary technician. When not at work she is usually riding a horse or working on Animal Chat her radio show on Wimberley Valley Radio.
